There are no more quick getaways to Orlando from Windsor.

CTV News has learned National Airlines has suspended its non-stop service from YQG to the popular Florida destination.

The last flight departed Windsor in May -- just five months after its much anticipated launch - when the company held two different news conferences about the service.

Mark Burgess has replaced Edward Davidson as National Airlines President.  Burgess tells CTV News they could not make money.

Burgess also admits when Allegiant Air started offering $49 direct flights from Detroit to Orlando, people stopped booking tickets out of Windsor.

Travel Agent Al Valente suggests the dates of National’s flights also played a factor for the airline.

Windsor Airport CEO Carolyn Brown hopes to have another airline offering direct service to Florida next year.

She adds the airport is still on pace to see a 15 per cent increase in traffic over 2015.
