A long line of teachers were waiting to get into St.Thomas of Villanova High School Tuesday morning as picket line continues for striking support workers.

It’s the second day of the strike at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board involving 370 clerical workers, technicians, custodians, maintenance and office staff.

There are reports of backups and traffic delays at other Catholic school as well.

Some students have been picked up by their parents, heading home.

The school board released a statement on Tuesday morning.

“We believe that teachers are being held up at picket lines for unreasonable amounts of time, and that as a result, students are being denied access to valuable instructional time,” said the statement.

“We are currently working with local authorities and will discuss strike protocols that will hopefully allow for better access for teachers so that they can be inside schools educating our students.”

The board hopes to have this issue resolved soon.
