The NDP Member of Parliament for Windsor West is gauging support for universal pharmacare.

Brian Masse's office has mailed out ballots asking his constituents whether they support the idea of a government paid drug plan.

Masse says the idea continues to be priority for his party.

The New Democrats claim Canadians pay some of the highest costs per capita for prescription drugs, and about one and five people can't afford to buy the drugs they need.

Masse's staff hope for a good response, saying the MP can use the response in the House of Commons to show support for the program.
