LaSalle police are looking for a suspect after an armed bank robbery at the CIBC on Malden Road.

A man entered the bank at 5870 Malden Road in LaSalle around 9:55 a.m. Thursday morning.

Police say he showed a handgun and demanded money from the teller, who provided him with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man left the bank and was last seen on foot heading towards Malden Road.

"No one was injured, luckily, other than the trauma of having this incident take place," says Staff Sgt. Peter Chevalier.

Lydia Paquin works in a hair salon in the same plaza.

"We're a busy place here, but you never hear nothing like that happening here," says Paquin. “No crime here in Lasalle, not like this anyhow."

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, about six-feet tall with a medium build. His face was covered with a dark bandana or scarf. He was wearing a dark fleece jacket with a white hooded sweatshirt and white running shoes.

"Officers are canvassing the area looking for witnesses, and our forensic unit is on scene as well," says Chevalier.

Police are looking at security footage from the bank.

"We're hoping that there may be something on video that may be able to assist police and we're looking into that," says Chevalier.
