Following a five-week strike by Ontario college faculty, an arbitration award will be handed down this coming week.

OPSEU, the union representing the college faculty, said Sunday that arbitration was held from Thursday to Saturday.

The arbitrator's award will form the new collective agreement for Ontario college faculty.

The arbitrator imposed a continued media blackout until the award has been handed down, a joint statement between the colleges and OPSEU said.

Back to work legislation ended the strike by 12,000 faculty, which affected 500,000 students. The legislation also meant all outstanding issues were dealt with in the binding mediation-arbitration.
