Drug-related charges against a Leamington man have now been dismissed in a $2.9-million drug bust.

In provincial court Tuesday, the crown attorney dropped charges against 54-year-old Doc Van Phan.

He was charged with possession and trafficking of marijuana.

The charges were dropped right before a preliminary hearing began for a co-accused, 46-year-old Jon-Paul Fuller of Lakeshore.

Fuller was ousted as president of the Windsor Essex County Crime Stoppers after being charged in September 2016, after officers executed a search warrant at 1935 Fox Run Rd. in Leamington.

Members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the Drug Enforcement Unit reported that 2,900 marijuana plants between eight and 12 feet in height, were seized during the raid and they had an estimated value of $2.9-million.

In addition, approximately 91 pounds of harvested marijuana was seized, having an estimated value of $180,000.
