Windsor police believe a shooting in Ford City was a targeted attack.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence located in the 1200 block of Henry Ford Centre Drive around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the person believed to be responsible for the shooting is still at large.

Residents in the neighbourhood admit they do not feel safe after the shooting.

"I've been in Windsor for ten years and I've never been close to anything like that," says Chantal Hamelin, who lives across the street with her two children not far from the Gino Marcus Community Centre. “It's scary because I got my children and never been around anything to do with guns or anything like that so it's really scary."

Robert Drouillard lives two doors down from the crime scene. He woke up to police knocking on his door.

“They asked me if I heard anything or seen anything,” says Drouillard. “I said No, I didn't hear anything."

Drouillard tells CTV News he knows the victim as "VJ” but police are not releasing his identity.

Sgt. Steve Betteridge says it appears the gun was fired a number of times.

“Initial reports are that a male entered the residence, he was dressed in black, he had a ski mask on and investigators believe he brandished a handgun."

Police say the suspect then fled on foot.
