A 26-year-old Chatham man dressed in full camouflage, carrying a backpack and armed with a realistic-looking gun, prompted calls to Chatham-Kent police on Sunday.

Police were contacted by a concerned citizen around 12:30 p.m. about the male in the Patteson Ave. area.

Several officers immediately converged on the area and located the man matching the description.

Police learned that he was on his way to participate in 'war games' with friends and the weapon was a realistic replica (airsoft) gun.

Officials are reminding citizens to use common sense as these types of incidents, although within the law, may cause concern and even panic for the public.
