A 21-year-old Grande Pointe man has died after a dirt bike crash in Chatham-Kent
Chatham-Kent police have identified the man as Kyle Lee James.
Emergency crews were called to the single motor vehicle collision at 3:16 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Dover Township.
The Grande Pointe man was riding his dirt bike with three other family members along a field when they came upon a 13-metre wide water-filled ditch on Bear Line Road north of Mud Creek Line.
Police say James went air borne and cleared the water portion of the ditch, but collided with the side of the ditch bank causing him and the bike to flip up into the field.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Sydenham Campus. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead.
Chatham-Kent police are still investigating the crash.
