Chatham-Kent police say a driver has been charged with attempted murder after a hit-and-run.

Officers responded to a fail-to-remain crash on Harvey Street in Chatham involving a pedestrian around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Through investigation, police say they learned that the driver and victim were known to each other, with evidence leading investigators to believe this was an intentional act.

Officers found the driver. He was arrested and charged with attempt murder. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The victim was transported to a Windsor hospital in serious, but stable condition.
