A 48-year-old Leamington man is facing impaired charges after police say he was found asleep behind the wheel of his parked SUV.
Essex County OPP received a traffic complaint at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday about a possible impaired driver heading eastbound on Seacliff Drive in Leamington.
Officers say they found the vehicle in question, a white GMC Jimmy, a few minutes later parked at a variety store at the corner of Seacliff Drive and Erie Street South. Police say the driver was asleep behind the wheel.
Officers spoke to the driver, who allegedly exhibited signs of impairment.
He was arrested and charged with having care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and having care or control of a motor vehicle with above 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content.
Mark Tehonchuk, 48, of Leamington, will appear in a Leamington court on Oct. 31.
