A 43-year-old Leamington man has been charged and police seek two suspects after a break-in at Dirty Jerseys Sports Grill on Monday morning.

Windsor police were dispatched to a commercial alarm in the 6600 block of Tecumseh Road East around 5:30 a.m.

When officers got there, they saw a man walking away from the scene carrying a back pack. Officers say when they approached the man, he began running toward a nearby vehicle yelling “Wait for me, wait for me.”

The vehicle sped away and the officers engaged in a foot chase.

Officers say the man hit a low tree branch which snapped his head back and slowed him down. He continued running, but officers caught up to him and arrested him after a brief struggle.

Other police units found the vehicle that left the scene. It is believed to be a silver Chrysler Neon or similar type of vehicle.

After the investigation, police believe the suspects broke in by smashing a glass door and they left with an undisclosed amount of cash after breaking into gaming machines. Officers are in the process of obtaining and reviewing video surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and people responsible.

The Leamington man is charged with break and enter, possessing tools for break and enter, and resisting arrest.
