LaSalle Fire Service is warning residents regarding recalls of two models of smoke alarms.

The models in question are from Kidde Nighthawk.

The recalled alarms were manufactured between June 2004 and March 2011. The models are: KN-COSM-IBCA (with battery back-up) and KN-COSM-ICA (without battery back-up). Both models are hardwired, and both are dual function or combination, smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.

Under certain circumstances, the alarm can fail to continue to and the end of its life (after seven years), possibly leading residents to assume it is still working.

Residents are reminded to regularly check all smoke and CO alarms.
