Hundreds of students and parents were protesting the new sex-ed curriculum at Northwood Public School Tuesday morning.

Some parents have informed the school their kids will be staying home this week as another form of protest.

Another protest is planned outside of the Greater Essex County District School Board offices Wednesday morning.

Many other parents are objecting the new curriculum across Ontario. Some are against the updated curriculum based on religious grounds.

Opponents argue that the new program, which will teach students about concepts including gender identity, sexual orientation and masturbation, does not mesh with their values and is inappropriate for school-age children.

Curriculum supporters contend the updated guidelines bring Ontario in line with the rest of Canada.

The new curriculum is scheduled to be implemented in September.
