A Lakeshore man received a three-year jail sentence Thursday after an impaired driving incident last May.

Jack Wolters, 25, pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death regarding the collision that killed 49-year-old Cindy Van Parys.

“He was horribly sorry for what had happened and he made a decision early on that he was going to accept responsibility and put it behind him,” says defence lawyer Andrew Bradie.

Bradie says he thinks it is a fair sentence.

“I think he was, in a strange way, looking forward to the day so he can be on his way to jail and start the process of serving his sentence and so when he’s released from custody he can get on with his life.”

Wolters was charged last May, a day after a pickup truck hit Van Parys as she was walking on the shoulder of County Road 2 near Rochester Town Line.
