Kingsville crash sends one to hospital with life-threatening injuries
A woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a vehicle crashed into a Kingsville convenience store.
Police say emergency crews were called to Main Street East around 12:30 a.m. to find two people inside the vehicle.
“I was just going to bed, it was about midnight and I heard a smash,” Kingsville resident Crystal Revait told CTV News.
A man and woman in their 30s were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but it is unknown who was driving.
“It looked like she flew right into the side of the building, no brakes, no nothing, it was eerie calm at that point,” Revait said.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this point, and the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team is investigating.
“There’s no reason why that vehicle would have hit the building,” OPP constable Steven Dugay says. “We’re just trying to figure out what caused it and led to that.”
Dugay says both occupants were taken to the hospital.
“Occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries that needed to be transported to hospital,” he said. “Both male and female were transported to hospital and the female has life-threatening injuries at this time.”
The vehicle didn’t make it through the thick brick wall, but it did cause interior damage to the convenience store’s cooler.
The OPP is asking anyone who may have seen the crash to reach out with any information.
