One person has been charged with impaired driving and another person was injured after a five-vehicle crash in Windsor’s east end.

It happened at the intersection of Wyandotte Street East and St. Rose Avenue Place Tuesday evening.

The collision involved two vehicles, but three parked cars were also damaged.

Police say investigation has revealed that a white 2015 Jeep Sahara was travelling east on Wyandotte approaching the intersection of St. Rose.  The Jeep moved into the curb lane from the center lane striking the rear end of a 2010 Volvo.

The Volvo was forced into a parked 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck.  The Ford F-150 was forced up over the south curb.  The front of the Ford struck the rear of a parked 2013 Ford Fusion.  The Ford Fusion was forced forward striking a parked 2006 Jeep Liberty.

The Jeep ended up on its side. The pickup truck came within six inches of the window of Sandy’s Riverside Grill.

The section of Wyandotte was closed for two hours.

The 21-year-old driver of the Volvo and the 43-year-old driver of the Jeep each were transported by ambulance to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The Jeep driver was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Police say  subsequently failed a breath test.

After being discharged from the hospital, the suspect was transported to Windsor Police Headquarters.  He was released on a promise to appear in court.
