Employees at Integram Seating in Lakeshore are on strike following a vote on Sunday, November 6th, 2016.

Hopes that a strike could be averted were lifted on Friday, after both sides remained at the table past a midnight strike deadline to reach the tentative deal, but it was rejected. Of the 700-plus workers who voted Sunday, only 42 per cent of them were in favour of the new four-year contract. The deal included wage increases and improvement for new hires.

Unifor Local 444 President, Dino Chiodo, says pickets are being set up and the strike will begin tonight. He says the strike will likely have a domino effect and impact operations at both Cami and General Motors immediately.

Integram also makes seating for minivans built at Fiat-Chrysler's Windsor Assembly Plant. That plant is already facing an unexpected shutdown of its minivan operation next week, due to a fire at a U.S. parts supplier.

This is the first of two ratifications today. Ford workers are also voting on their new contract.
