Battered and bruised at his Amherstburg home, Peter Lossing is still recovering after being struck by a vehicle while on his e-bike nearly two weeks ago.

On Oct. 10, Lossing was travelling along County Road 20, just outside of Harrow around 10 p.m., when his black e-bike was hit from behind by a vehicle. The force of the crash sent Lossing 25 feet from his bike – his memory is still fuzzy.

“I could have easily died…easily,” Lossing told CTV Windsor reporter Sacha Long during an exclusive interview. “People get hit every day and die. I’m lucky to be here.”

To make matters worse, OPP say the suspected vehicle didn’t stop, and continued east towards town.

“Leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal offence, in this case, we would quite possibly be investigating dangerous driving causing bodily harm again,” says OPP Const. Kevin O’Neil.

Provincial police are now looking for a suspect and a vehicle described as a full-size sedan, possibly gold or beige. Police say it likely has front end damage as a result of the crash.

Lossing only suffered minor injuries, including cuts and bruises to his face and some internal injuries. He spent a week in hospital. He says his only hope is that the person responsible will come forward and offer him an apology.

“I think it’s crazy someone could do that… not stop when you hit a person. That’s not right.”

Anyone who may have information related to the crash is asked to contact OPP or anonymously Crime Stoppers.
