Windsor fire officials say a fire at a duplex on Louis Avenue is being considered suspicious.

Fire crews arrived on scene at 372 Louis Ave before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to find the back of the building engulfed.

Officials say the duplex appears to be vacant and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

After about an hour, the fire was put out but crews were left to deal with stubborn hot spots between floors in the two-storey home.

Officials say there is extensive damage to the exterior.

Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says the clothing and household items littered around the backyard were there when firefighters responded to the call.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage has been set at $200,000 with an additional $10,000 in damage to neighbouring homes.
