Holiday concert to benefit special needs baseball league
The Riverside Minor Baseball Association (RMBA) is giving back to the community with a fundraising concert this weekend.
An ensemble group of musicians will gather on Saturday at All Saints Church next to Windsor City Hall, lead by renowned artist Alexander Zonjic.
It’s called the “Piper's Holiday Concert", featuring smooth jazz and holiday classics. It’s the inaugural event intended to raise needed funds to support the Miracle League of Riverside Baseball.
The Miracle League program supports over 100 special needs children throughout the year, giving them an opportunity enjoy the game of baseball. Charitable donations to the organization can be made on its website.
Bill Kell is the executive director of RMBA. He is hopeful that this will be an annual event that gives the generous community an opportunity to support an important cause and the children who benefit from it.
"As you can imagine, some of these kids with different abilities cannot play on regular sports fields because of the grass and the dirt,” said Kell.
“So, this is a very special field, and they're very special players and great athletes. So, we're doing this for them, to raise some funds for them to keep them playing in the spring."
Tickets to the event can be obtained online here.
The association said it is grateful for all the donations, especially from the Solcz Family Foundation.
