WINDSOR, ONT. -- A truck driver was taken to hospital after a tractor trailer fire on Highway 401 near Comber.

The westbound lanes of the 401 were closed for several hours overnight.

Provincial police closed the westbound lanes at Highway 77 at 12:30 a.m. Friday. Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services and the Lakeshore Fire Department also responded to the blaze.

By 4:15 a.m., the lanes had all reopened following cleanup of the scene.

The lone occupant driver was transported to an area hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries related to smoke inhalation.
