A 49-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a crash between a transport truck and a tow truck on Highway 401 near Chatham.
Chatham-Kent OPP were called to the crash near Kent Bridge Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say a tow truck was setting up to remove a vehicle from the centre median, when a transport truck collided with the tow truck.
While speaking with the driver of the transport truck, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol, according to police.
The driver was transported to detachment for breath tests.
The 49-year-old man from of Ste. Anne, Man., was charged with driving while ability impaired, and driving motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.
He was also charged with failing to move into another lane for emergency vehicle or tow truck and driving a motor vehicle with open container of alcohol.
The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 13, 2017 to answer to the charges.
