The victim in a fatal hammer attack will be laid to rest on Friday in Windsor.

Visitation for Gertrude Hawley will take place Thursday at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday prior to her funeral at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church.

The 85-year-old succumbed to her injuries on Sunday at Windsor Regional Hospital. Her son, 54-year-old Damian Hawley is accused of first degree murder in her death.

Hawley was previously charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

He will appear in court on July 23.
