A section of Golfview Road has reopened after a car was struck by a freight train on Wednesday morning in Lakeshore.
Provincial police, along with EMS and fire services were called to Golfview between Essex County Road 42 and Essex County Road 2 around 10:44 a.m. OPP say a northbound Nissan Sentra was sent into nearby ditch by an eastbound train.
The female driver and lone occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The crash caused the train to sustain a small diesel leak. Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment has been contacted.
The stretch of road was closed for several hours, while police investigated the cause of the crash.
