Workers at Ford's Windsor Engine Plant find themselves in familiar territory to those at the Chrysler minivan plant - waiting for word of a new product line.

Workers knew back in 2012, when they ratified their new contract that the V-8 engine currently made at Windsor engine is being phased out.

What they are now hoping for is a new product to replace what they are losing. About 800 workers are now on edge while Ford makes a decision.

“Either bring a new engine there or that plant is likely going to close down,” auto analyst Tony Faria says. “The Windsor ford engine plant is old and it needs major rehab work.”

Ford committed to launching two new eco-boost engines this year, one of which still doesn't have a factory.

“We need a commitment to a new engine.”
