A Windsor police officer, who was dismissed from the force following a lengthy police act hearing, has filed an appeal.

Lawyer Linda McCurdy filed the appeal on behalf of Dorothy Nesbeth on Dec. 22.

Nesbeth is appealing her dismissal from Windsor police, which came down earlier this month. The former constable was stopped at the border in July 2010 after Canadian custom officers say they found 100 cans of beer and other alcohol that went undeclared.

The hearing found her guilty of deceit.

Windsor police has confirmed that Nesbeth is back on paid suspension during the appeal process.

McCurdy says she hasn't been retained as Nesbeth's appeal lawyer, but adds the two will talk when they both return from vacation.
