An early-morning fire at an abandoned home has been deemed suspicious by Windsor police.

Fire crews responded to the blaze at 512 Elm Ave. Sunday about 7 a.m. and searched the home to ensure there was nobody inside.

This is the second time there has been a fire at that address. The first happened last October and the cause was undetermined.

Neighbours are concerned about the two fires.

"It's an eye sore for the neighbourhood. it's dangerously close to my house I just wish they'd tear it down."

Officials say the latest fire started outside of the building. There's damage to both the front and back of the house.

Neighbours say the house has been vacant for six years and they fear that if it's left standing, it could go up in flames again.

"Since October, they boarded it up and there's stragglers or whatever you might call it, keep going in there and I think they keep lighting fires. They should just tear it down and be done with it. It's a blight to the neighbourhood anyways," said Max Matthews.

Damage to the house from this latest fire is estimated at $75,000.
