A 21-year-old Amherstburg man is facing impaired driving charges after a fiery crash that injured two people earlier this month.

The overnight crash took place on May 2 at the intersection of Thomas Road and Alma Street. Amherstburg police say the car left the road, crashed through a backyard fence and burst into flames.

The passenger of the vehicle remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content, causing an accident with bodily harm,

impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

His next court date is June 18.
