The father of one of the teens accused in a viral bullying video is speaking out.

The video shows a female with special needs from Windsor being bullied, and assaulted in the Riverside area last week.

The father spoke with CTV News today, on condition of anonymity.

He says the video has gone world-wide, and as a result, threats are pouring in from all over the globe.

"We've gotten a lot of death threats, thousands upon thousands. And I do know that there's been some issues health-wise with some of the children involved, with PTSD symptoms because of how frightened they are for their lives," he said.

He tells CTV News the two-minute video doesn't tell the whole story and says people not familiar with exact details should ease off.

“It doesn't make it ok, but I just ask people take it easy on at least some of these kids because they all suffer from mental health issues," he said.

He still believes some good may come of this. He says awareness campaigns like Bell’s Pledge to End Bullying are helping spark conversations around the issue.

“The kids are going to be stronger because of it,” he said. “They've definitely learned, and I know every single one of them has at least been thinking about it. Most of them definitely know what they did wrong."

Meantime, Windsor police report a fifth person has been charged Monday in connection to the assault.

According to police, the victim says she was approached by a group of teens in the riverside area last week before the fight broke out.
