Two homes were badly damaged and a family of six has been displaced after an overnight house fire on Francois Road.

Windsor fire officials say an explosion is responsible for starting the blaze at 1452 Francois and cause damage to neighbouring homes.

Damage is estimated at $110,000 at 1456 Francois and $5,000 to 1446 Francois.

Bill and Susan Lariviere live at 1456 Francois with their two children, two other family members, and two dogs. They all got out safely, but their home was also destroyed. They lost everything.

“I looked out the window to see and seen flames hitting our house and this was 2-3 minutes after,” says Bill Lariviere.

“There's no words to describe how it is right now," says Susan Lariviere.

Bill Lariviere says he went in and it was like “a lake” in his living room. “It’s all water and smoke damage,” he says.

The fire apparently broke out around midnight.

A fire investigator and an engineer with the Office of the Fire Marshal are on scene.

Officials say there were no injuries.
