Essex County monk charged with sexual assault

An Essex County monk has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation by Windsor Police.
On July 21, 2016, police began an investigation into a possible historical sexual assault of a child by a monk at the Khemara Buddhist Temple located in the 5200 block of Howard Avenue.
Family of a child reported that the monk at their temple sexually assaulted the child on multiple occasions when she was 6 years old.
The incidents occurred approximately 2 years ago while at the temple.
Police are concerned there may be a potential for other victims.
Then Phan, 38, is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and one count of an indecent act.
