An Emeryville woman can't believe her luck after her car was sheared in half Monday morning by a Via Rail train.

It happened about 5:45 a.m. on Monday. Cindy Thompson was driving her Ford Focus southbound on Renaud Line in Lakeshore. As she was travelling over the Via Rail tracks, her vehicle became stuck in the snow.

“As soon as I got onto the tracks, the car just sunk down into the snow and I couldn't, I knew the train was coming,” says Cindy Thompson .

Thompson says tried to "rock" her car out of the deep snow, but she couldn't get off the steep train overpass.

Thompson did manage to call 911, but as the OPP Communication Centre was attempting to contact Via Rail dispatch, the crash occurred.

She had only just escaped her car when a Toronto-bound via train hit it. Her car was completely demolished and split in half.

There was minor damage to the train, and no one was injured on the train or vehicle. The train was leaving the Windsor terminal with 43 passengers.

Police say no charges are expected to be laid.
