Windsor police have charged an 83-year-old man after a nine-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car while she was walking to school.
Police responded to the incident at Parent Avenue and Ellis Street around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officers say the man was driving eastbound on Ellis and made a turn to go north on Parent. A school crossing guard was on the street guiding children across. Police say the driver didn’t see the guard or the girl and sideswiped her.
She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The 83-year-old was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian. His licence will be reviewed by the ministry.
