Amherstburg police say a 23-year-old driver has been charged after hitting a skateboarder on County Road 18 on Thursday.
Police were dispatched to the collision involving a pedestrian being struck on County Road 18 between Concession 4 South and Meloche Road.
Investigation has indicated that the victim of the accident is 30-year-old Adam Pouget of Amherstburg.
At the time of the accident, Pouget was either walking or riding a skate board near the shoulder of the west bound lane of County Road 18 on his way to work to a job site in Amherstburg with Tilbury Concrete.
Pouget was struck and killed by east bound silver Ford Focus passing another vehicle on County Road 18.
Police say at the time of the accident the visibility conditions were extremely poor due to fog. Speed and weather conditions are a factor in the accident, say police.
As result of the investigation, the driver of the silver focus, 23-year-old Brandin Crosier of Amherstburg has been charged with criminal negligence causing death.
Crosier was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court date of Dec. 20, 2016.
