A show of community support in Windsor.

The United Church Downtown Mission received two generous donations on Thursday.

The Mission received $6,000 worth of meat from butch Ted Farron and Al Quesnel. While making the donation, Quesnel also contributed $75,000 toward the Mission's Wellness Centre expansion on Ouellette Avenue.

Ron Dunn of the Downtown Mission says the generosity is overwhelming, and the meat will feed hungry clients for about three-weeks.

Dunn says they go through about 250 pounds of meat a week, and the Mission provides over 700 meals a day to Windsor's less fortunate.

Dunn says “the food will go a long way, so we're really happy to accept that donation on behalf of those that we serve."

A University food bank also benefited from the good work of some Windsor students this week.

The food bank at Iona College received a $2,000 cheque from a student club.

Caring for Cambodia has raised more than $14,000 since 2014, by holding different events such as bake sales, car washes and sporting events.
