Devonshire Mall announced a $70-million renovation and redevelopment program.
The mall made the annoucement on Twitter Tuesday morning, saying there would be exciting changes coming to the shopping centre on Howard Avenue.
It bring new shopping and dining options for Windsor consumers and will modernize the interior of the shopping mall with a bright and open new experience, according to mall officials.
This will be the largest and most comprehensive renovation of Devonshire Mall in the last 20 years.
“This is an exciting time for the centre,” said Chris Savard, general manager of Devonshire Mall. “This program reaffirms Devonshire Mall’s commitment to remaining the premier shopping destination in the Windsor area and serving all of the community’s shopping and entertainment needs.”
A key feature of the redevelopment will be a new and expanded food court. The new food court, with an expanded seating area, will feature new dining options as well as familiar vendors, all within a bright and welcoming new space.
The retail expansion will be complimented by a program of renovations throughout the mall. Officials say the program will create a bright, modern and welcoming feel throughout the mall including attractive new entrances.
The program features a complete redevelopment of the former Target store, which previously occupied an area of approximately 120,000 square feet. A new Metro grocery store is a key new tenant in the space which will also feature other best in class retailers to serve the needs of Devonshire Mall shoppers.
These tenants follow the recent additions of such premier retailers as Sephora and Forever 21 Red to the mall in recent years.
Construction is underway and is expected to continue in phases through 2018.
Savard says Windsor shoppers will have uninterrupted access to Devonshire’s stores and services throughout the renovation and construction program.
