A Windsor police staff sergeant - found guilty of neglect of duty and discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act - has retired.
Staff Sgt. Paul Bridgeman was charged in connection to the role he played in the assault of a doctor by former detective David Van Buskirk.
He was appealing his demotion when he retired last month.
The retirement means the appeal process will not proceed.
Chief Al Frederick says although Bridgeman may not have suffered a financial hit in the case, the demotion is still on his record.
