A printing business on Drouillard Road in Windsor has been destroyed by fire.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at Hogan’s Printing around 5 a.m. Tuesday, and flames could be seen shooting out of the building.

“With the flames shooting out to the road, it indicates it's been fed by something so maybe natural gas lines may have failed," said Windsor fire deputy chief Andrea Dejong, as officials closed a section of the neighbourhood to traffic and evacuated nearby homes.

Dan Hogan, along with his brother Doug, are the owners of Hogan's Printing.

“My sister called me and said the shop was on fire and I came down to this," said Hogan, as he stood in front of the gutted shop. “She assumed it was a break and enter and the first responders were here immediately and did such a great job. Got everybody out of the adjoining house and everybody's safe."

For Hogan, it's something he thought he'd never see.

“We live in a good city and everybody supports each other and we'll be back," said an emotional Hogan.

The company employees 15 people and Hogan tells CTV News he will reopen on Drouillard Road.

“It's a setback we don't really plan for but it happens," he said.

Drouillard Road was closed between Metcalfe and Seminole and an investigator was called to the scene.

Fire officials estimate the damage at $500,000.

The cause has been listed as undetermined.
