A Windsor driver is facing several charges following a serious crash in LaSalle Saturday night.

Police were called to Front Road about a possible impaired driver around 10 p.m. and as they were arriving, more calls came in about a crash on Gary Street.

Police discovered a black Mercedes had crashed through a gazebo at a residence, crossed Gary Street, struck three Canada Post mailboxes and a fence before stopping in the backyard of another residence.

The female driver has been charged with impaired operation, exceeding the legal limit of alcohol and assaulting on a peace officer for alledgedly spitting on the officers at the time of her arrest.

While the Mercedes is a write-off, nobody was injured in the incident.

Sherry Dillon says she head a loud bang when the crash occurred and ran outside. She was stunned to find the Mercedes totalled on her yard.

"You just sit there and go, 'Oh my god. How did she not get hurt?"

Witnesses say the driver was aggressive. "I saw them dragging her. putting her in the police car. It took three of them because she was struggling so bad."

Police say this aggressive behaviour happens often. "Officers deal with these types of situations fairly frequently. Whether you're working in Lasalle, Windsor, London or Toronto. This happens more often then we would like to see it happen."
