Three different groups are investigating the death of a Windsor Jail inmate.
The Ontario Coroner, Windsor police and the Windsor Jail are conducting investigations.
“I can confirm that an inmate at the Windsor Jail has died,” says Brent Ross, spokesperson for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. “Internal, police and a coroner`s investigations are being conducted. I cannot confirm the length of time it may take to conduct any investigation. If the coroner’s investigation determines that the death was of natural causes, an inquest is discretionary. If the coroner determines the death was not due to natural causes, then an inquest is mandatory.”
Windsor police Sgt. Pamela Mizuno says the 47-year-old man was sent to hospital on Sunday.
She says she could not provide any more details on the investigation or the man who died.
