Dozens of copper ground wires worth $10,000 have been stolen from hydro poles that service the Comber wind farm.

Essex County OPP have taken several reports of the thefts since Sept. 1, 2012. In total, police say 43 sites have been targeted.

Police say the suspects are climbing as high as 25 feet in remote areas, to remove the copper from the poles.

Judging by the height of the cuts, police believe the suspects are travelling in a pick-up truck along with an extension ladder that can be extended from the bed of the truck.

If you have information with regards to these thefts, you are asked to contact Det. Constable Ian Stibbard at the Essex County OPP crime unit at 519-723-2491 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
