A crash Friday evening led to two men being taken into custody for drug-related offences.

Windsor police were called to the scene of a collision involving a pickup truck on Tecumseh Road near Buckingham Street at around 6 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses told police a black pickup truck was driving erratically and left the area after causing a collision.

Two men were taken into custody after fleeing the scene and police say they were later found "passed out" at a busy east-Windsor intersection with the vehicle in gear and idling.

According to police, the truck was located at Tecumseh and Forest Glade after members of the public boxed the vehicle in until officers arrived.

Officers on scene reported the men appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Wyse Jamali was stopped by a red light at the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Forest Glade Drive when he witnessed the picup truck screech to a halt.

"I saw this car stop fully and then I thought someone was having a heart attack because it comes out of nowhere," he said.

First responders found an "unknown substance" in the vehicle and the Hazmat Team was called in to investigate, police say.

Don Moore of T'Bears Creamery on Tecumseh Road East near Forest Glade was concerned.

"We were wondering. 'Hey should we even be open?' What are we dealing with here? Are we dealing with drugs...chemicals? I guess they came out with their white suits so it looked lik more then just an accident or takedown."

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment and placed under arrest for drug related offences, according to police.
