The Chatham-Kent Police Service is offering some winter driving tips amid recent snow.

Officers remind that driving in snow can be unpredictable, meaning driving slowly and remaining in control of the vehicle is important.

The police service offered the following tips:

Slow down: Most winter collisions happen due to drives going to fast for the conditions.

Don’t use cruise control on wet, snowy or icy roads: Cruise control can reduce your reaction time and control of the vehicle.

Steer gently: Hard braking or speeding up too quickly can cause you to slide and if you do, steer in the direction you want to go.

Give space: When roads are slippery, your stop time is longer. Give yourself extra space to prevent collisions.
