The City of Windsor is showing an inside peak at the new 71-metre competitive pool in the family aquatic complex.

The pool will be used for the International Children’s Games this August.

“We are constructing a facility for the community, one that also serves as a state-of-the-art competitive facility,” says Don Sadler, project manager. “Seniors are key to our local market, so the pool includes some innovative features to enhance its community use.”

Recent construction work has focused on two of these features, a moveable bulkhead and a moveable floor, both of which increase accessibility for persons with limited mobility.

The moveable floor moves to the top of the pool water at its north end. This allows wheelchairs to roll directly into the pool. The thermal bulkhead reconfigures the pool into a smaller unit in which the water is heated to higher temperatures.

The complex will be completely finished in December.
