You heard him sing on TV when he was the first person ever to make a music video from outer space, now it's time to hear him up close and personal— this time in downtown Windsor.

Chris Hadfield is set to open the next season for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra Pops the weekend of Oct. 17.

Hadfield and WSO music director Robert Franz worked together on different projects while both were working in Texas; one with the Houston Symphony Orchestra and the other at the Houston Space Centre.

"We're actually commissioning a number of his songs to be arranged with the orchestra, so you'll hear him singing with the orchestra for the very first time anywhere, here in Windsor with the WSO, we're super excited about that,” says Franz.

The WSO will again be shaking things up with selections from legendary rock group Pink Floyd. Jeans 'n Classics is coming back in early2015.

The concert series will be titled 'Dark Side of the Moon - The Music of Pink Floyd.'
