A charge of child luring has been dismissed against a former Windsor scout leader.

Robert Brownlie learned of the decision in a provincial court room on Wednesday.

Brownlie was charged by Windsor police in May last year.

Members of the internet child exploitation unit began their investigation when parents called authorities regarding an online conversation between their child - and a scout leader.

A spokesperson with Scouts Canada says Brownlie's membership was terminated following the 2015 charge.

However, Brownlie is free to appeal his termination before a scout's review board.
