About $2,000 worth of premium trees and flowers have been stolen from a Chatham-Kent nursery.

Chatham-Kent police say the crime took place over a four-night period from Degoey's Nursery.

Owner Julie Degoey says she’s discouraged after crooks broke into two of their business locations on Keil Drive and St. Clair Street, stealing flowers and the abundance of trees.

"It's so discouraging, we're on the cusp of a huge ‘Buy One Get One Free’ event starting tomorrow and then they steal $2000 worth of product,” says Degoey. “I mean that's profit margins right there in the whole scheme of things in a business.”

She says Japanese maples, purple leaf sand cherries, and eight-year-old six-foot cedars were swiped.

Now the Degoey's are enhancing their security - putting up an eight-foot perimeter fence and installing a new camera system.
