Although widespread flooding is not anticipated residents are urged to keep an eye on the Thames River in Chatham-Kent.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says the river received about 15 millimetres of rain on Monday.
The rain combined with the melting snowpack is contributing to additional runoff.
Officials say the river flats between Delaware and Chatham will flood starting in the upstream portions on Tuesday.
People should take extra caution and avoid the rivers, ditches and streams in the area.
