A 25-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with several offences following a two-vehicle crash that resulted in road rage.
The crash happened at Charing Cross Road and Sylvanna Drive Friday night about 10:15 p.m., Chatham-Kent police say.
Police say a Pontiac crashed with another vehicle and the suspect got out of his car and allegedly assaulted a 63-year-old Harwich man in the second vehicle.
The suspect then drove off.
Police were contacted and enroute to the scene observed an eastbound vehicle on Middle Line near Blenheim.
Police say they attempted to stop the vehicle and the suspect refused to stop and continued eastbound.
The driver turned north onto Chatham Street from Talbot Street in Blenheim and struck a hydro pole. The suspect exited the car and began to flee police on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot chase.
Police have charged the driver with:
- Failing to stop at scene of accident
- Assault
- Flight from police
- Impaired driving
- Driving with over 80milligrams alcohol
